Liver Disease Background
According to the “Hong Kong Viral Hepatitis Action Plan 2020-2024”, in Hong Kong, it is estimated that about 540,000 people are infected with chronic hepatitis B and 22,000 people are infected with chronic hepatitis C. Chronic hepatitis infection often remains asymptomatic for many years until it develops into cirrhosis and liver cancer, thus missing the best time to seek and receive treatment in a timely manner.
Launch Ceremony of the LiverCare Program
Opening Speech
The LiverCare Program
Background
Professor Seto, Wai Kay Walter: “According to statistics from the Global Cancer Observatory, liver cancer ranks second in cancer mortality in East Asia in 2020. By 2040, the number of liver cancer patients in the Asia-Pacific region will exceed 995,000.” There is still a long way to go to eliminate HBV. Timely HBV screening can effectively reduce liver-related mortality. Among them, Liverscan, as the most ideal solution for liver fibrosis screening, has the characteristics of immediate care, painless and non-invasive,accurate and portable, which can effectively lower the threshold for treatment and effectively control the risk of liver disease. It has diversified application scenarios and can provide early screening of liver disease for various institutions and patients.”
PolyU’s innovative and entrepreneurial
development in the medical field
Professor Zhao Ruheng said: “As a start-up company supported by PolyU, Eieling Technology Limited has successfully transformed Liverscan into a product with a positive impact on society thanks to the patent licensing strategy and the introduction of investors and industry resources. In addition, PolyU will fully support the ” LiverCare ” program in Hong Kong to be promoted in the PolyU Health Care Office, conduct liver disease screening for full-time faculty and staff of the university, follow up for a two-year study and collect a large amount of data to study the importance of balanced diet, continuous exercise and regular liver disease screening for monitoring liver disease.
Liver disease screening technology
Liverscan was born
Professor Zheng Yongping: “According to relevant literature, “27% of Hong Kong adults are affected by NAFLD, and 61% of obese subjects suffer from NAFLD. In this context, in order to solve this serious social problem, the palm-sized Liverscan with integrated intelligent algorithms was born. We hope to reduce hospital costs and shorten patient testing time through Liverscan, while greatly improving the accuracy of testing, so that liver bomb testing and screening procedures can enter the community and be applied in more scenarios, so that liver assessment can be truly popularized.”

In the future, the ” LiverCare ” Program will continue to increase the intensity of popular science publicity, promote the popularization and application of liver disease screening technology, and provide more patients with timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment services. Let us work together to contribute to the cause of liver health!
This LiverCare – Hong Kong 10 Million Liver Scans Program ” is not only aimed at providing patients with timely and accurate liver disease testing services, but also strives to create a model of health management in Hong Kong. This screening activity will rely on the advanced Liverscan wireless liver bomb technology, and through the Liverscan empowerment service process to increase social participation and form an efficient and sustainable liver disease early screening model. From education, scientific research, clinical treatment to policy formulation, we will integrate resources to jointly promote the popularization of health knowledge and the improvement of health awareness. Through the close cooperation of government departments, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and social capital, we will achieve effective control of chronic liver disease and complications, further optimize and innovate screening strategies, and make it a platform for early diagnosis and prevention of other major diseases. The best practice of prevention. The plan is expected to improve the service level of Hong Kong’s medical and health field, and will also have a positive and far-reaching impact on the health management model in the entire Asia-Pacific region and even the world.
